The 39 and 40 Mercury bodies are identical so the 40 Ford should fit your 39 with minor modification. See the topic that i gave you a link to.

This would be great news if 39 Ford sedan rear flipper rubber is the same as 39 Merc, CAN ANYONE VERIFY THIS?

1940 Ford 4 door sedan rear flipper windows are exactly the same as 1940 Mercury, so I am guessing 39 are the same also.

My memory may be playing tricks on me, but I remember this question being asked about a 40 sedan and the Ford was almost the same. I tried searching and could not find the topic. Edit I did find the topic http://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=16&Topic=7038&keywords=quarter%20window Metro Moulded Rubber used to have a write up on how to use their moldings to make your own. If the Ford ones will not work, you could give them a call to see if it is still available. Tom

Replacement weatherstrip for the rear quarter windows seems unavailable for my town sedan. has anyone tried to modify the Ford item to fit the Mercury? I assume the Mercury window is larger, but if the difference is behind the hinge post, couldn't an extension be fashioned and inserted? Any other solution to a leaking gasket would also be appreciated.
