Have power but nothing else

Have power from battery to solenoid, to coil, to reg., and relay horn switch, ignition switch. Have no contact from starter button, no lights nothing. checked ground from battery cable to block and from firewall to block. looking for some answers and help.

Check all the wiring connections for cleanliness and tightness at the starter solenoid, starter motor and circuit breaker.

Your starter button should apply a ground to the solenoid to send power to the starter. Take a jumper to the front pin of the solenoid to your battery ground. If this turns on the starter, you have a ground problem (at least at the starter switch to the dash). Next I'd check for power to the ignition switch using the ground at the battery and then grounding to the dash. Get a schematic from the early ford bulletins to see how the current should flow through the switches.

The battery cables were on backward to the solenoid.

There should be three wires on the large BATT terminal of the solenoid. One wire is the large battery cable to battery - , second is a wire to the dash voltmeter, third is wire to the horn relay. The MOTOR terminal of the solenoid is just the large cable to the starter motor. The starter is grounded through it's connection to the oil pan. The third terminal is the small terminal with one wire to the dash start button. As mentioned above the start button is grounded through the dash board . If someone replaced the solenoid with a more modern plastic version, there are several types of these solenoids. with different internal connections, you have to have the correct version of the modern solenoid and many are made for 12V not the 6V your using.
