Alan: I know I'm living in the past, but "in the day" (before Bob Drake started making glove boxes) when you could score a nice NOS piece at say a rural Ford dealership, it was considered "a find". Finding anything NOS today that wasn't originally returned to a dealership as defective is pretty remote. But you are correct in that in ranking; "original" (to that particular vehicle) is platinum, or maybe even rhodium.

Super, to many folks, an original part is 24 carat gold. Even an NOS part is not original. Everything else is just another repop.

LeBaron Bonney sells springs of all kinds, including both the cushion and backrest springs for the '32 rumble seats. Check them before you buy an old set (1-800-221-5408). Very old springs are usually in bad condition, particularly in open cars and rumble seats. I bought new ones from L-B for my Model As because they were not expensive, had no sags or broken coils, and were worthy of expensive coverings.
