How does one adjust 1939 Ford steering with it installed in the car? Thanks for any help.

Drive straight forward on a flat surface. Adjust the length of the drag link to the pitman arm until steering wheel is centered. Drive straight forward again to check the adjustment.

Alan - I want to set the proper engagement of the sector and worm gear by adjusting the screw on top of the steering box that has the star washer to keep it in place once properly set.

Now that is a subject of which I have no answers for you, as my own '38 steering box is happy and maintenance free. It goes where I point it and obeys my fingertip command. I wish I could say as much for my wife.
