I am looking for a quality wiring harness for my '40 survivor. My original is brittle, and the provided NOS wiring isn't much better. I want as close to original as possible in order to keep it looking original. Thanks for any referrals.

Shelby, there are several excellent sources for harnesses. Rhode Island Wire is just one of them: Rhode Island Wiring Service Inc. www.riwire.com Correct wiring harnesses, all makes and models No matter where you get your harnesses, there are a couple things to keep in mind, and to specify when you order: You can special order an additional wire to carry your turn signal should you at some point wish to install them, and another to power an electric fuel pump near your tank.. And you should specify that all bullet connectors and terminal connectors be soldered. There will be shrink tubes installed, which makes it difficult to solder after the fact. (I don't know if Rhode Island normally solders them or not, as I got mine from another source.) A tip on installation: I would have e freaked out if I had just ripped out all my harnesses without having a plan. i labelled all ends of the old harness, and layed them out with the new to label them likewise. I also blew up large copies of the wiring diagram for use in the shop. I also greased all bullets and terminals to prevent oxidation. While you're doing this job, consider replacing the dimmer switch with an NOS unit. Alan

Narraganset and Rhode Island have the best track record on wiring harnesses. Both of them use the correct gauge wires for their harnesses and both solder all connectors. Both of them have been in business for about 40 years. http://www.narragansettreproductions.com/ http://www.riwire.com/

I installed RI wiring in my 1946 coupe. Very high quality materials used and excellent workmanship putting it together. The include an extensive detailed blueprint for your installation.

Frequently the best harness is one you buy across the counter and hand back if there are problems. Starting with that assumption I would like to suggest you put your general location in your profile and also in your post. Charlie Stephens
