I need to add turn signals to my car so that I can drive it safely. I am looking for a couple of things. No one is good simple instructions that a fifth grader can follow and next a couple of recommended brands. thanks ...rsh1950

Suggest you find a Ford Chassis Parts Catalog for 1949-1950-1951-1952 years. In the rear of the book is a diagram for installing turn signals for 1949-1950. You will need to find the 2 wire parking light sockets for the front-- not needed with the brake lights in the rear. I presume you are going to add the assessory turn signal kit with the switch that clamps onto the steering sector. It is a pretty easy conversion -- once you see the diagram.

You can purchase a Directional signal switch which features direction indicator lights and 4-way hazard switch with indicator light from LeBaron Bonney. Wiring instructions are included. They also offer 3-prong 6 volt flashers which must be purchased separately.

You can also purchase the 6 volt flasher from Napa, part no.535, I used it in my 48 ford turn signal conversion.
