Yes, I upgraded to 12 V unfortunately. The battery the car currently use is a modern sealed unit.

12 volt batteries have 6 cells. The battery pictured has 3 cells. I do not think thta you will find a 12 volt battery that is similar in appearance to a 6 volt battery. Is your car 12 Volts now?

Thank you for the links and your help ! The battery looks a little different from what is in the 1937 Ford Book. I found a picture of this battery in the book. Would there be no one in the USA or Canada who might have a 12 V battery identical to the one in this picture ?

The car currently has a modern battery - functional but not even close in appearance to a battery of that vintage. Thanks for the tips - I think the best solution that I can find is a 1940 style 2LF from Antique Auto battery. No one seems to make the 40-10660 anymore.

Thanks Don. I was going by the group number that determines the physical size, not by the logo. I should have said that the 2HF series battery was the taller size. The 01A battery is the one that I think of as the 1940 style as it was the one supplied in 1940 and will not fit earlier cars. It is a 2HF series. The 2LF fits the earlier cars.

Tom, There was actually 2 different size 1940 style batteries. The 81A-10655-A was 7 1/8" high while the 01A-10655-A was 8 5/16" high.

The 1940 design battery is larger than the 1937 battery. It is 10 5/8" long x 8 5/16" high and 7 5/16" wide. I was unable to find a current manufacturer for a correct script battery for your car.

The sight referred to above, does not presently carry the correct battery for your 37 Ford. It will fit but it is the 1940 design case, not the 1934 design case that you need. Please see the following images for more information.
