Tape around the switch to protect the dash paint and then pry it off.

The switch on the '49 is spring loaded. Hold the bezel tight to the dash and push the switch body forward towards the bezel. Twist as you push and the switch should come loose from the bezel.

If it's the same as my 47 it just pushes on and pries off quite easily. I'm not at my home computer to attach a photo but here's a link to the photo of my ignition switch on PhotoBucket that you can go to and see if it's the same as yours. If so, just gently pry it off. http://s1059.photobucket.com/user/craigmca/media/Ford%20Technical/KillSwitchIndicatorLight_zpsf56cdde1.jpg.html?sort=4&o=210

How do you remove the bezel from the ignition switch?
