I have removed the steering column and steering gear from my 40 Ford. How do I remove the column from the steering gear? The steering wheel and shift mechanism have been removed. Is there a retaining clip or something else at the top of the column? Thanks Eric

Remove the outer column from the inner shaft make sure the column lock (ignition) is disengaged, and the clamp on top of the box is loose. Remove the steering wheel, nut and woodruff key.

40 Coupe - really appreciate it. Why is the best way to get the Woodruff key off? Thanks Eric

Never mind, after a little patient effort I got the woodruff key off. Moving forward. Thanks Eric
