I contacted the president of the Early Ford V8 Club and it turns out that the notice incorrectly stated '54 Fords. They have now revised it.

I think maybe your friend was mis-informed. Have not seen anything like this in the V8 Times. I can't imagine it would be done without long discussions and a vote.
1934 Ford's since 1972

My long time member of the Early Ford V-8 Club just returned from Hershey and informed me that it is now open to all 1954 Fords, even though we have Y-Block engines. I realize that the Canadian Fords of '54 had flatheads, and thus have been eligible for membership, but has the Board of Directors now opened it up to all '54s? If we are eligible, I will look into joining, but must admit that I believe I should bring in a professional food taster at the meet in Gettysburg next year, as I'm sure many would consider this a sacrilege.
