Have your battery checked with a load tester. It could have gone bad over the summer.

Sounds like a bad ground or connection somewhere. RE: 6 volt starter with 12 volt system. I and many of my flathead friends have been using this setup for years with no problems. Just don't crank it for long periods of time.

Check and CLEAN all battery connections, ground cable to engine and frame, also solenoid to starter cable. Are you still using a 6v starter? If so, they won't last long in a 12v system especially if you over use them.

Hi All, I really need your help. I just had my 1941 Ford Coupe changed over to a 12 volt system. I worked fine all summer. Tonight I went to start it up. It spun just fine at first but then the battery started giving out. It is now really lower. What I don't understand is the lights are very bright and not dull when turned on. I would think that if the battery was really low the lights would not be so bright. Can anyone please enlighten me what is going on with the car. Thanks ...Joe D
