You can get an idea of the color by visiting http://tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/acl_files/ford.html Color chips are not necessarily a correct representation of a color. The best way to get the color that you want is to have a sample mixed and spray it on a piece of metal that has been coated with the primer that you have on your car.

HI I was going to paint this car [ picture enclosed ] VINEYARD GREEN,even sprayed a small part, then decided to go to the color it is today, and that was 1977, this is a 37 CAL SPRING EASTER COLOR I guess if you like green. it might be your color. but remember onced painted you have to live with it, DITZLER has a repaint book , has paint chips included ,,that a lot of FORD parts suppliers have for sale and give you a good idea what the color is, and will give you more choices to chose from hope this helps. 37RAGTOPMAN

Ragtopman, please clarify? Your car is beautiful, but I cannot determine if it is Desert Sand or Adobe Tan. The Adobe Tan was an Easter color for 1937, with Chinese Red for the stripe. The Desert Sand was an Easter color for 1936, which was authorized for 1937 & 1938 from the Richmond and Long Beach Ca plants only. the Desert Sand used Bright Vermillion for the stripe color. My confusion is due to your saying your car has a 1937 California Spring color. Can you set me straight please?

HI back in the 83-84 I was at s V8 NATIONAL MEET, I was told by Roy N [ 37 EXPERT ] that this color was a dead ringer for the DESERT SAND CAL color EASTER SPRING, between the 2 colors , adobe and desert sand, they are very close. but I go with the DESERT SAND,and has the hand done bright red strip, this car was painted in 1978-79 I guess when the paint was mixed it came out a little lighter that expected and was right on for the DESERT SAND, I gave the the DITZLER PAINT MANUAL,that is sold, I picked one of the tans,[ CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH ONE ]and this is what I got, but very happy that way it came out, a lot o people tell me they like the color, I tried to make the EASTERN V8 MEET, but rain kept the car at home while I went modern,I still enjoyed the meet, there was no open 37-38 cars there, thanks 37RAGTOPMAN

Ragtopman, The way color pictures can deceive, it's hard to say for sure, but yours does look like Desert Sand to me. Congrats on picking a great color! It would be great to show our cars next to each other, mine being a '38 Cnv Cpe driver with Desert Sand.

I have a "one family" (bought new by my father), 1938 Ford Station Wagon. The car was assembled in Long Beach and painted Desert Sand. The last time I painted it in the late 70's, I had a hard time sourcing the color. As you all know, 38 hubcaps have a stainless-steel center cap that is crimped over the center of the non-stainless cap proper. By carefully easing the stainless center off of the cap, I discovered a pristine, non-faded original color, which we then used for computer scanning.

Stroker, You're very close to Supereal in Iowa City! If you went to Auburn this year, I must have missed seeing your car. Love that Desert Sand!
