As I recall, the "turtle" housing for the Model A fits a different torque tube diameter.

MAC sells the complete gear case assembly. They are listed on page 140 of the latest Model A catalog. May also be in the V-8 catalog. They fit A's and flatheads. The 30/31 unit accepts the square end of the speedometer cable. 1-800-777-0948

The usual gear for 3:54 is 18 teeth. C&G has them as AA-17271-E, $14. You have to use your housing, as they are not reproduced, to my knowledge.

I have just completed upgrading my rearend ratio from 3.78:1 to 3.54:1 to give my '40 longer legs on the hiway. This is becoming a very popular upgrade now that new ring and pinion gears are readily available, all the way up to 3:24:1. I now need to find the correct 17 tooth speedometer gear to correct it to the new ratio, and I'm having a real hard time finding one. Would anyone know of an old speedometer shop, or other source that might have this item?
