joe b: The switch part number is 51A-13740-C but color of knob unknown. However you have to be laying on the floor to see it. It is shown in most catalogs and generally costs about $25. Good luck.

Thanks, Guys. I will try the lube solution first. If that doesn't work I will use trjfords's solution. Will use patience with the lube.

There should be one screw holding the dimmer control to the dash. You can spray the control with tuner cleaner and lubricant form Radio Shack. If you can't get the Tuner Cleaner, use Liquid Wrench or Marvel Mystery Oil penetrate oil around the knob on the inside of the control. Use your fingers to work the control back and forth until free. Follow up with a contact cleaner on the slider. The controls for different years all work the same, the difference is in the color of the knob.

Bypass the switch.Just hook the two wire together that go to the switch and you should have bright dash lights.Make sure the gauge panel and light sockets are properly grounded also.

The dash light dimmer switch on my 1941 Coupe will not turn to adjust the brightness. The dash lights work but are stuck on dim. Is there a way to get it free so the lights work? How is it removed? And lastly, I looked for a new one but the C&G catalog lists new ones for 1940 and 1942 to 1948 but not 1941. are the 1941's different?
