Cheap Chinese pullers are available. They bolt to the treaded holes in the wheel hub and push on the shaft.,when used, leave the nut on the shaft. Back it off almost to the end before pulling to prevent swedging the hollow shaft, which will ruin the threads.

Hal, if you Google "early Ford Steering Swap", there is an article that is pretty helpful.

Hal, I just started the same swap myself. I have the steering wheel off and the steering gear out of the car. I used a 3-bolt puller and wrapped plumbers tape around the three steering wheel spokes. Doesn't sound too tidy but worked with no visable damage to the wheel. If you don't have the horn button with the light switch rod removed yet, be careful when you do. Mine is a two door sedan and I had to remove two bolt from the steering box to frame bracket and the two holding the steering column to the dash. Otherwise, you might bend the light swith tube which runs through the steering shaft. Hope this helps. Terry N
