You can pull the engine and trans as a unit, but I prefer to pull the engine and then the transmission. Here are most of the steps to pull the engine: Remove the hood Remove the intake and accessories Remove the fan Remove the radiator Remove the "chatter" bars Remove the exhaust system Remove the front motor mounts Remove the floor boards Remove the bolts holding the engine to the trans Support the transmission Attach the lifting chain to the engine Remove the engine. To pull the trans: Disconnect the transmission from the shift levers Disconnect the clutch operating arm from the transmission Jack up the transmission and disconnect the universal joint from the drive shaft. If you are going to remove both at the same time, you will be better off removing the front clip first. This will give you room to maneuver the unit. It will also reduce the head room needed for the hoist or engine crane. If you are doing this in a garage with an 8'ceiling, you will probably have to remove the front clip or remove the front wheels and lower the car in order to get room to lift the engine.
