Lower radiator hoses are often sold with little or no attention to length. The are usually sold by cutting chunks off of long stock. Be sure to measure the length of the old hoses so the replacement will fit without problems. They need to be long enough to cover the raised bead of the radiator pipes, with room beyond to accomodate the clamps.

Those are both good ideas. I believe silicone is better for the rubber than WD 40, however. Another help is to replace the motor mounts at that time, both rubber, both deteriorate. The engine raised for the motor mounts provides the opportunity to install the hoses. Line up the hoses and lower the engine, done deed.

I agree with Ken however I used a radiator hose lube. I can't remember now what it is called but it is sold in a small packet by most auto parts stores usually at the counter. I had to remove one of my hoses after 9 years and it came right off very easy. Just an alternative idea.

Soak in hot water when installing and kind of try to fold it in 1/2 in the middle, coat the inside of the hose part with WD-40 ken ct.

I recently replaced the passenger side lower radiator hose on my 47 V8. It was incredibly difficult as the space between the pump outlet and the lower radiator inlet is much shorter than the length of the very rigid replacement hose. There must be an easier way. Is there a replacement hose that is more flexible? Any thoughts?
