hardtop.. Your '36 was built just a few weeks after my '36, The Serial number on my car is 324xxxx.. As it has been stated herein.. The light trucks, commercial vehicles, have the same serial number sequence as the cars because they are basically cars with a pickup/special body.

Hardtop, the book was written specifically for the passenger cars, however, virtually all of the mechanical information applies to the pickup, with exception of the radiator. Frames were identical with exception of mounting brackets for the passenger cars.

TonyM - I looked at the description of the EFV8 '35-'36 Book here on the website. will most of that info apply to my '36 1/2 ton pickup?

hardtop Try a small wire "toothbrush" and scr*pe the paint away. The number should become clear. Once it is nice and shiny mask around the edges and apply a clear coat. Then it will be able to be checked anytime. It can barely be seen by lookers.

The upper case "I" denotes "1" and the badly worn "S" is actually an "8", which together are read as "18". This prefix stands for V-8. I8 - 3293333 tells us that the car/pick up was equipped with a V-8 engine; 3293333 tells us the transmission case/with engine was produced in August of 1936 and stamped with this number. When this engine/transmission combine was installed in the frame, the transmission number I8 - 3293333 was then stamped on the frame. Source: The Early Ford V-8 as Henry Built It -- A Production Facts Book 1932 - 1938 by Edward P. Francis and George DeAngelis Warning: The late December 1936 numbers and the January 1937 numbers are in error in this Francis/DeAngelis reference work. These numbers can be cross referenced in the Early Ford V-8 Club of America 1935-1936 Ford Book and the 1937 Ford Book. . . . 78-73B

would like to ID my frame. the stamped #'s on top of driver's side rail near the front x member junction is somewhat obliterated... begins with a 'star' figure then what looks like, upper case I S (not clear) then a dash followed by 329 3333 (very clear) followed by another 'star' figure. A # 50 is stamped on the rear cross member, passenger side. My project is a '36 Ford 1/2 ton pickup which I would like to run original style pedal assembly. I understand some variations exist. setting up to use '40 Ford hydraulic. Thanks.
