On deceleration have vibration (almost like a shuttering) in high and second gear. Goes away when the clutch is pushed in. All OK on acceleration in second and high. Does not vibrate on deceleration in low gear. Any ideas?

As well as the U joint, I would check the drive shaft bearings.

It can be caused by worn front and back transmission main bearings, failing roller bearings in the cluster, and a bad pilot bearing in the flywheel. Any play in these parts will show up as shudder.
