FORUM RULES: Users agree to these Rules when using Forum.

The site administrator reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.

The user agrees to the following terms:

  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.
  4. Commercial-type sales postings will not be allowed.
  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

At this time, there are NO plans for a "Motor Fest" in Auburn this year. The folks involved worked their a** off last year on the Central National Meet. They're taking a year off. There possibly could be one in 2011, but nothing firm yet. Stay tuned!

one of the past organizers is having a big auction in September -- maybe that will be taking the place of it.

After looking at a ticket for the flathead engine that is being raffled off by the Foundation.....YES THERE WILL BE A MOTORFEST IN AUBURN THIS AUGUST OF 2010.

Now, how do I know that -- since the Foundation does not want to break the law -- I know that for these reasons as found on any official state raffle rules page.
Tickets sold, must have the following information on them:
Listing of the prizes
Organization name
Price of the ticket
Sequential numbering if needed
A detachable stub with the same eequential number
and................
the time, date, and location where the winner(s) will be selected.

Now check your engine tickets -- it says:
Winner to be drawn at Auburn Motor Fest August 2010

Guess that tells me that either the current tickets are void if drawn at a different location, or that this August there will be an event in Auburn IN.

See you in Auburn............

I want to correct some errant information that has appeared here in this chain:

RAFFLE ENGINE: When the raffle tickets were printed in early 2009, plans were to award the engine during Motorfest 2010. However, the same core of volunteers that host the Motorfest were working on the 2009 Central National Meet. At that meet, the decision was made there would be NO Motorfest 2010 since the volunteers wanted to take some time off. Attendees at the meet were notified. Subsequently, the FOUNDATION NEWS, the FOUNDATION Website and EVERY issue of the V-8 TIMES, starting with the Sep/Oct 2009 issue through the Jan/Feb 2010 issue, clearly state the engine WILL BE AWARDED AT HERSHEY 2010. When tickets were sold, the buyers were told this. If the buyer placed his contact information on the back of the ticket portion returned to the Foundation and they are the winner, they will be the proud owner of this great engine in October, 2010.*

AUBURN AUCTION: Foundation Trustee Ron Stauffer is downsizing his collection of Fords and other marquees as well as some petroliana. The following from the Vanderbrink Auction website: The Stauffer V-8 Collection! Fabulous Collector Cars, Pickups, Parts, Gas Pumps, & More! Date: Saturday, September 11, 2010 Time: 11:00 AM Location: 7780 S. US 27, Portland, IN 47371 Contact: Yvette VanDerBrink 507-673-2517 or 605-201-7005 VanDerBrink Auctions 507-673-2517 605-201-7005. Among the items will be the 1932 BB Ford flatbed truck, formerly from Greenfield Village Ron generously donated to the Foundation. ALL proceeds from the sale of this truck will go to the Foundation. It sounds like a great collection of automotive stuff. Plan to be there!

2011: Don’t put away those V-8s just yet. There is something BIG planned for them and you in Auburn in 2011. An announcement will be made soon.

(* If there is a legal issue on the “Motorfest 2010” drawing date printed on the ticket, the winning ticket will be drawn at the August work party at the museum by Foundation Trustees and the winner will have his engine TWO months earlier! While it won't be a Motorfest, you're certainly to come and bring your work clothes and join a great gang of V-8ers building something for future generations! Discounts on rooms and food. Dates and details will be on the Foundation website soon.)

Hope this clears this all up
