Crazy, that will make a nice package. I have not installed a T-5 but have done a little with 85hp transmissions and V8-60s. Sounds like you already know some of the issues. A '40 V8-60 flywheel would be a good start. If you can get the back of the V8-60 to look like an 85hp, you'll be in good shape. Unless you find some one selling bendix covers, you can easily fabricate one. Send me a PM if you are interested in a '40 flywheel; I have a buddy that should have one if you need it. Otherwise, here are a couple of sites if you haven't already found them. Sorry that I have no other first-hand knowledge: http://www.wilcap.com/flathead.html#FHFlywheels http://www.flatheadv8.org/t5-swap.htm

They make adapters to mate the V-8 85 to a 5 speed, but I don't know of any to mate to a V-8 60. You might call H and h Flathead 818-248-2347 to see if they have any knowledge of an adapter.I'm sure a good machine shop could make one, but it might be pricey. You might also post the question on the Fordbarn(www.fordbarn.com) and on the HAMB board(www.jalopyjournal.com).

I have a late '37 Ford V8-60 engine and an '86 Chevy S10 Borg Warner T-5 transmission that I would like to couple together for use in a lightweight vehicle. Has anyone used this engine/transmission combination? If so, what parts did you use to complete the installation? Specifically, what flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, clutch release fork, and engine/trans. adapter did you use? Did you use an external hydraulic slave cylinder to actuate the clutch release fork? Did you have to fabricate a cover for the starter Bendix drive? Any information or help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
