Hi Everyone! Well, I'm back home outside of DC after attending the 2014 Central National Meet in Springfield, IL. We went 1600+ miles out and back towing a '36 Ford in a 20' enclosed trailer behind a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost twin turbo V6. Drove the old Ford over 225 miles while in town. My first trip in the truck and it is very nice! A/C seats. Outstanding "snort" going up hills, we easily passed if we wanted to. It downshifted on it's own from 6 to 3 going downhills if I was trying to coast. It used trans/engine breaking on some of the 7 degree downgrades thru PA/WV/MD. I had an uspeakably fabulous time! Visited many of the local landmarks, and a few that were not on the itinerary. (There _was_ a Hooters in walking distance, wasn't there?!) A nice touch was that if a car was displayed for the first time there was a note on the windshield card, and if a person was attending a National Meet for the first time there was a note on their name tag. Great idea! The trophies/plaques were personalized with our names professionally printed on a metal golden colored tab. Very thoughtful! Amongst some very nice Touring Class cars, ours was honored to win second place. A very special gift at the Awards Banquet table was a packet of hand-made chocolates with the V8 logo in them. YUMMY and just one of the very personalized touches that the meet organizers pulled off. (Meet-logo mini first-aid kit, meet-logo coaster, were other beautiful touches.) So, a very big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who worked to make sure I could have so much fun! Did anyone else have fun? VT/JeffH

FYI VT/JeffH: You can edit your own enties and could have changed Eastern to Central without creating a second entry. And it was a great meet wasn't it!!!!! Web Administrator

Hi JT Ford, The F-150 has a pretty sophisticated computer to remind us that we were getting about 8.3 MPG. We never actually ran the numbers.

Yes, I had a great time! Got back home today at 4:15 pm. Total mileage on the '35 fordor was 1,947 miles. About 1,700 miles out and back, + 247 miles on tours and driving around Springfield. The old Ford purred like a kitten the whole way. Many thanks to Carolyn and Ken, plus all the members of their RG group. WELL DONE!!

JM saved the "Day" when he lent us a 20A fuse.
