To avoid startling the wife, neighbors, and yourself, disconnect the battery before attempting to remove the ring.

Jim, The ring is held on by a metal plate on the back of the center piece. Place your hands evenly on both sides of the ring and press in to release the three tabs on the back, and turn counter-clockwise about an inch and left the whole ring off. If loose, either a metal tab is broken off or the spring in the back is broken. Give it a try, you should have no problem and then you can see what the problem is. Also, One tab could not be seated. Good Luck, Don

I have a 53 Sunliner with the deluxe 4 spoke ivory/black steering wheel- the horn ring is loose and falling off, does anybody know who supplies the retaining hardware to rebuild this? I haven't tried to remove it yet for fear of not being able to put it back on until I know where to get the parts. I can't seem to find any diagram of the assembly in my shop manual. Thanks for any help!
