I have made these staples from piano wire from a hobby shop. It is probably about.040 + -

Are you talking about the felt "fuzzy" strip around the inside of the garnish molding? if so they are attached with staples that usually come with the felt kit. In that past I have used vey tiny(#2) flathead screws to attach the felt strips. I drill small, holes for the screws and they sink into the strip and you barley see them. I then use a Dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut off the screws on the back side so they can go over the lip of the door.

I am looking for suggestions on putting the felt around the window trim for both the door side and the trim side.
