Need some technical/mechanical assistance!! Recently bought a restored 48 Ford 2 dr sedan street rod. Two days later I had problems with the glove box release button not fully disengaging the "tab" that keeps it secured. Dummy me used a small screwdriver to push the button while using a 2nd screwdriver to gently pry open the door. The door opened fine, but the button pushed in about 3/8 inch and I can't figure out how to retrieve it. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

Those locks either won't open, or latch due to age and accumulation of crud inside. Your best bet is a replacement. C&G (800/266-0470) shows the lock with two keys for 42-48 as 21A-7006081. Be sure the striker plate is not bent or out of place.

U B da man!!!!!!!!!!!! That's exactly what I need if I can't salvage this one. I'm assuming the build is a few years old, but I'm waiting on the "build docs" that the dealer got from the previous owner/builder. Again, I appreciate your assist!!

Go to your local hardware store and purchase a small bottle of "Lock Ease". Squirt it into the lock mechanism and let it sit for awhile. This stuff is a combination of graphite and oil and works wonders on sticky locks.
