Another possibility, assuming the engine/ clutch aren't to blame: On Model A's the front bearing in the drive shaft tube can wear and cause vibration. If all else checks out, you mioght check this.

There is no harmonic balancer, just a crank pulley. Finding the source of a periodic vibration can be tricky. First, isolate it from the running gear by carefully increasing the engine speed in neutral. If the vibration doesn't occur, then look to other causes, such as a failing u-joint. If is from the engine, it can be caused by an accessory, such as the fan, a bad fan or water pump belt, or generator bearings. I doubt it is from a loose flywheel, as this usually produces both vibration and noise. Same for an out of balance clutch pressure plate. Almost always, vibration is accompanied by a noise.

I get the same vibration worst between 50 and 60 so cruise under 50 or over 60 so it don't bug me so.

I don't think this engine has a harmonic balancer per se. I would suspect the flywheel, clutch, loose engine mounts or a combination of these first.

I recently bought my 1946 Ford Super Deluxe and I have a vibration from the engine when I get close to 50 mph. I am thinking that it is the harmonic balancer. Please comment and if you know a good source for a replacement (OEM?) it would be greatly appreciated. Kim
