I'm a new member, the air filter on my recent 41 super deluxe opera coupe is terrible. Does K&N offer replacement.....? I hate to put that wire whatever back on. The only thing it will filter would be an elephant john

What filter does you 41 have that's so "terrible" and what's so "terrible" about it. Is it the stock oil bath air cleaner? If not, you might consider returning to such. That's what I have always used on and off road and it works fine. Never have to change the element, just the oil when you change the engine oil. Here are some: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=1940+ford+air+cleaner&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=1941+ford+air+cleaner&_sacat=0

Welcome to the Club. If you are not a purist, and don't intend to show your car for judging, I'll repost my article on converting an air cleaner to a modern dry element while maintaining the appearance.

I haven't found a K&N filter that will fit on the Ford carburetor. Your best bet is to find an oil bath air cleaner and modify it to take a paper or K&N element per Supereal's instructions.

Currently have an air filter that has a round wire mesh like filter inside top cap. Is this an oil bath? And where does oil go. Boy am I green on this Looked up cleaners Henry suggested on eBay but didn't see any for 40s cars. What filter does one use as non purist? Thks John L
