VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Hi,
I have two spare tire brackets. Which one is for a '36 and what is the other one? the one on the right is stamped steel, the one on the left a cast iron part attaches to the car while a stamped steel upper part goes against the wheel.

The one on the left is from a 34 or 35 Ford with the 36 Ford face plate. The one on the right is for the 36 Ford sedan and is not for Coupe, Cabriolet or Roadster.

Hoe does the one for the coupe differ? I thought that the one on the left might be for a station wagon or a sendan delivery,. I do believe that they are original and that the face plates have not been changed.. They do not appear to have any numbers on them.

I believe they are both from '36 model cars. During '36 Ford made five different types of tire carriers compared to '35 which only had three. There should be a number stamped on the carrier such as 68-1433-A. The suffix indicates what vehicle model. The "Green Bible" has a listing of some model suffixes.

Of the two you have pictured, the one on the right "appears" to be for coupes, roadsters and cabriolets. At least it looks like the one on my '36 cabriolet.

I clean them up and see if I can find some numbers. I have the green bible so that might help.

The Ford Motor Company Chassis Parts List shows only two spare tire brackets. 68-1433-A for model 700,730,740,750. 68-1433-B for model 710,720,760,770,790. Photo is for 68-1433-B

I agree with you that the parts book only shows two types being available. However, the V8 Club's book on '35-'36 Fords (page 22) has a discussion of the five different types of '36 tire mounts used on the '36 model. Probably for parts inventory purposes the five were reduced to two.

Along with the discussion, it refers to two types of '35 mounts. There were actually three. Given the thoroughness of the publication this is a very minor glitch.

The difference between the A and B suffix brackets is the curvature of the back of the bracket where it attaches to the body. The A-suffix version's back side is convex when viewed from the side to mate with the concave surface of the back of the bodies of sedans and phaetons and the B-suffix version's back side is concave to mate with with convex surface of the bodies of coupes, roadsters, and cabriolets.

There also were two spare tire brackets one for Coupe and the other for sedans with a Standard spare tire cover. This was the same bracket with a welded extension for the spare tire cover lock.
