VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

h*llo ,jim from the u.k here ,this might sound a silly question ....i tore the car apart 23 years ago and am now at the stage of putting the interior together ,i had the dash, trim etc woodgrained 20 years ago and stored it ,i,v got it together to fit and its all there except a piece appears to be missing or was it not there in the first place because the 39 doesnt have one ...it covers the centre of the split front screen,top and bottom of the screen frame ,surely the centre of the screen isnt shown "bare", it would look a bit ugly ,i,v looked at several books ,the 39 restoration and v8 affair and i cant realy get a decent picture,apart from looking through loads of old v8 times,i thought i,d ask the excellent forum, many thanks ..jim.

The only part I see in the C&G catalog is the lower windshield (screen) molding clip. For the 38-39 coupe it is 78-701392,about $11 US. Their order line is 800/266-0470. E-mail: info@cgfordparts.com

thanks supereal,the smallest part is the moulding clip that you mentioned which i would have expected to mislay ,i,v got that ,hopefully somebody can confirm whether or not a screen division piece is used ,thanks

The windshield frame halves were chrome plated and a rustless steel center strip was installed for 39. The roll open windshields leak and can be suseptible to corrosion. Many were replaced with other frames from earlier cars. In 1937, the closed cars had painted frames but the deluxe models started the chrome plate with standards remaining painted. I think the 38 & 39 closed cars except station wagons were all chrome plated to protect a little better for corrosion. I hear the V8 club book on these models doesn't really have a lot of info on the windshields. I don't have one yet so I can't confirm that. I have the chassis parts book for the 37 to 41 but I don't have the body parts catalog that would have all the parts like the windshield.

thanks rotorwrench, regarding your description on the chroming ,painting of the windshield frame i assume you are talking about the outside part of the frame ,my question is about the inside centre bar (if one exists or not) to match the woodgrained interior frame trim ,many thanks for your interest ,regards jim.

They may have sprayed a color other than black on the center inside post area of the early standard versions but I'm sure they just left the chrome plated ones chrome since the entire frame was chrome plated, both inside and out. It's been a while since I really looked at one for a 39 model and I can't remember whether the outside stainless piece has a fastener or if it just clips on to the center divider. If you have all the screws and pieces that put the frame halves together and attach it to the car, then at least you have that. These frames are getting harder to find in good complete condition.

According to the body parts catalog, the center strip for closed cars is chrome plated.

I am going by my feeble memory, but the windshield opens in one piece and the center strip fits between the upper and lower halfs. It would have been chrome plated on both sides to match the upper and lower halfs. Their would not have been a need for the wood grained finish strip in the center.

I am going by my feeble memory, but the windshield opens in one piece and the center strip fits between the upper and lower halfs. It is one piece with a slot for the glass. It would have been chrome plated on both sides to match the upper and lower halfs. There would not have been a need for the wood grained finish strip in the center.

thanks all,it appears the centre of the windscreen is the part that is showing and not an additional strip fixed on the inside ,i,m pleased as i thought i,d mislaid it .i found this screen at hershey about 20 years ago as the screen on the car i imported from west virginia had a very rotted out screen ,thats the good bit ,the bad bit is that the bottom curved frame corners each have a gap of about 1/2 inch from the body curve .....if it was easy it wouldnt be interesting..hey ho. thanks ..jim.
