Is the 35'differential forgiving enough to run a used replacement right axle as the hub nut stripped at initial 140 ft. pounds of torque....

The integral axle gear on your replacement axle should not be pitted or damaged. Most of the time, this gear doesn't turn in relation to the spider gears, but it still should be in decent condition for when it needs to, so as not to transfer damage to the spider gears and thence to the opposite axle gear.

I am not sure I understand the question. If the hub nut stripped why don't you just buy another nut? Be sure to get a NOS or quality reproduction from someone like Roy Nacewicz (313) 383-3673. How are the threads on the axle? Charlie Stephens

Is the nut stripped, or the axle threads damaged? The usual reason that a nut strips is due to cross threading. 140 ft lbs is far from enough to secure the hub, in either case. Using a "knock off" type hub puller can also ruin threads. Any lack of adequate threads can result in losing a wheel on the road, resulting in major damage to the vehicle and you.

Excuse please! ! ! ! I know better, the threads on the axle are stripped that's why I asked if a used axle could be installed & be serviceable.. Tnx ***JT***

JT, finding a good used '35 axle is not impossible. I have found quite a few in rear axle assemblies that I purchased while looking for some specific ring and pinion gear sets. Some things you want to look for are good teeth on the gear end, lack of a deep worn groove where the lip seal contacts the axle shaft, undamaged key way slot, hub mounting taper in good condition, and of course good axle nut threads. I would also suggest having the axle magnafluxed for possible cracks. There are also NOS axles available if you check around at some of the old Ford parts suppliers. JM

By far, the two most common faults of used axles are: 1- Thread damage. 2- Cracked shaft at the inner terminus of the keyway. The former MAY lead to failure. The latter WILL lead to failure.
