The parts book calls for the 19 tooth gear with the 3.73 ratio and the 21 tooth for the 4.10 ratio used with overdrive. The 20 tooth is used with the 3.90 ratio used on the station wagon.

You will have to determine the rear end gear ratio to know which gear is correct. Find out why the other gear stripped before replacing it. Look for a frozen cable to the speedometer, or a bad speedo head. Normally, those gears last a very long time. Some speedo gears have a tooth number on one side or another, if you have the original.

Thought replacing my stripped speedo gear would be a no brainer. Har Apparently there are 3 options...19,20,21 teeth. Any idea which one is correct for a stock 1950 w/overdrive? I'd rather not replace another one due to an incorrect choice. Thanks team Michael
