I have a 38 ford standard coupe. I'm trying to find the stainless trim peace for the driver side of the hood. Does anybody know who mite have one.

The trim on the driver side '38 hood is the hardest to find of any trim on any Ford. I hope your hood has been properly repaired? You have two options... Search forever for your trim, or remove all the beltline trim, fill the holes, and stripe instead of trim. The Standard had a stripe until January '38. Other changes were made at that time also, but not all cars got the stainless.

The "lift, then lower" hood support on 38's was NOT one of Ford's better ideas. If you look at vintage photo's, almost all 38's had a sort of "I'm not impressed" facial expression after the first pump jockey kinked the left side of the hood, and while the hood could be fixed by a good body man, the trim was history. Just one of the reasons that many of us 38 owners prop the hood up after removing the support. I like Alan's solution, but it won't work for 38 Deluxe owners.

Thanks Alan I know that its a hard peace to find because I have been looking for a few years now. I don't want to fill in the holes only as a last resort.

Bill, If yo can find the quarter stainless from a standard tudor it may be long enough to modify to fit your hood.
