To me, if the nut tightens the pulley on the shaft, and pulley does not wobble, and is straight,it cannot go anywhere, the key way keeps it from turning, just recheck the nut after driving,to make sure it does not loosen up after a few miles, my 3 cents 37RAGTOPMAN

I wouldn't get my shorts in a bunch over this. I'd choose your #1 option.

I have now torn apart three '34 generators in search of a pulley that isn't cracked. They were all cracked at the back of the Woodruff key slot where the material is very thin. Two even had small chunks missing. Looks like a design issue. Is this a fatal flaw? My choices appear to be: 1) use a cracked pulley, 2) buy an offshore reproduction (also rumored to be problematic) or, 3) keep buying generators at swap meets in search of a good pulley. Any thoughts?
