VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

To my eye, both are too green. I remember the color as more grey. It is very difficult to get a good representation of the colors that were painted on the cars originally.

When I had my car repainted, we tinted the paint from PPG with more yellow to get the greenish tint that was on the underside of the floorboards and overspray on the inside of the doors.. After 7 years, you cannot see any trace of that greenish tint.

I had a 40 Standard Opera coupe back in the mid-70's and it was Cloud Mist Grey too. It's my favorite color for the 40's!

The color was a little darker than the most recent picture in Deluxe40's post.

Here's another picture (not of my car but another) that is a pretty good representation of the color of mine.

I had my '40 coupe painted with PPG urethane Cloud Mist Gray, mixed according to their formula rather than matched. Some think it came out too light. Others think it is right on. It's fun to look at several Cloud Mist Gray cars lined up on the show field. They are all different colors. The attached photo is fairly true to the color of my car (to my eye). I recommend having a large test sample painted before proceeding to paint the whole car.

This site lists the modern numbers for many years and makes of cars, Here is the 1940 link:

If you go to the second page you will see Ford colors and Cloud mist gray is 30027 PPG

If you take this number to a PPG store they should be able to mix it in Urethatne which might have a differnt number, I think that is an enamel number.
They also list a DuPont number

I used this site for the Acadia Green for my 40 woodie and I am really pleased with the result.

PPG has an antique car paint service available to their vendors. They will provide a formula that is close to the original color and the vendor can mix it for you. I would suggest a small sample for your first order and spray it on a panel. If you are satisfied with the color, order a large enough quantity to paint the car with an extra quart that you will use to fix problems.

You can see the paint chips, get the paint codes and order paint from TCP Global.

Cloudmist grey is my favorite color on a 40 coupe. It is a pale green color that sets off the coupe's lines very well.

Due to the change in paint formulation, the old codes are no longer valid. The best way to get close to the original is to look for a part on your car that is least weathered. Have a good auto paint dealer use an instrument to analyze the color and translate it to a modern coating that will match.

need to get the manufacturer and codes of cloud mist grey for 40 ford. any help would be appreciated.
