I have a chance to install a 51 overdrive into a 52. Both are from v8's. According to my Hollander, they are the same unit. My question is will the rear engine support (tranny mount) in the 52 accomidate the change? From the chassis parts manual it looks like they only list one rear mount for overdrive/3 speed trannys the exception being the mount for the automatic. Has anyone done this installation? Any issues? Thanks in advance.

The OD transmission is longer than the three speed, and may require a different rear mount position and driveshaft. The rear end gearing is also different for OD. Of course, you will need the kickdown switch and relay, as well asthe lockout cable for the conversion.

The standard 3 speed & the o. d. trans are the same length. Driveshaft will fit as is. The 3:70ish rear gear works fine with overdrive.
