Raven black is the finish on nuts and bolts. It's similiar to the bluing on guns, but a little darker. Gloss black is shiney black paint.

What Ford called Raven Finish is known to the rest of the metal working community as black oxide. Not so long ago when there was actual manufacturing in this country there were firms that specialized in black oxide coating parts. If you look on Eastwood's site they have chemicals that they claim will give you a black oxide coating. That said you should be aware that the intent was to give the parts a temporary protective coating so they would not rust in storage. Once installed on the car you may be disappointed that the coating does not last.
