The driver's side wiper (of course) stopped working on my 46 coupe. Appears the little ball joint on the arm from the wiper motor to the driver's side wiper has come off of the short arm at the bottom of the tower shaft. It looks like the socket for the ball is just worn out and the ball won't stay in. I don't know how it was ever put together or what made it stay in place as all parts are metal. Was there some sort of spring or something there? Most importantly, how do I repair it? To make matters worse, I live in Oregon, home of the liquid sunshine! Thanks in advance for any advice!

The tower and drive arm is available as a unit. C&G has them as item 51A-17500. They fit late '46 thru '48. They will work with the early '46 if the hole in the cowl is enlarged to 1/2 inch. (800/266-0470).

The long arm is held to the short arm by a rivet. If you have the Trico motor, the replacement arm and tower is the preferred fix. For the King Seely unit, you will have to try to find a replacement from a person that does wiper repairs or convert your wiper to the Trico.
