I was seriously thinking about converting my 36 to HYd. brakes, then a friend installed a Brake Energizing Kit in it. It made all the differance in the world. This baby stops on a dime. Wow!! Just thought I'd mention it. Hal

Hal, I did the same as you with the front barakes on my '34 and I'm very pleased/impressed (WOW!) with the improved braking. I used the simple kit ($25.00) from MAC's - Part# B2051FL - much simpler and easier to install than the $170.00 kit they also offer.

A picture of MAC's "simple kit can be seen & found at this link: http://macsautoparts.com/campaign_product.asp?camid=F30&pn=B2051FL MAC's high dollar kit can be seen at this link: http://macsautoparts.com/early-v8-ford-mercury-flat-head-ted-brake-energizer-kit-ford-18-2051-tq/camid/F30/cp/Q70IB1YG1000002/ I've tried both kits and I prefer the simple kit for price and efficiency. It's called 'KISS' - "Keep It Simple Stupid".

last year i did a brake job on my 36 pick-up it still has mechanicals on it. i took everything apart and cleaned it, also i installed Flathead Ted's floaters. also had the shoes relined with soft lining and the drums turned and shoes arched. the old truck stops great. i have a 411 rear in it so i don't go over 50 mph and don't drive on the freeway.
