I use the ball bearing, just make sure it is sealed on both sides so it does not let dirt it, I think the number of the bearing has to have a Z in it for the doubled sealed bearing, hope this helps 37 RAGTOPMAN

As usual, Tom and I are on the same page. If the bronze bushing was better than the ball bearing, it wouldn't have been obsoleted.

Okay, gonna go with the bearing type based on your opinion and Super's.

I have had no trouble with either pilot bearing. I like the ball bearing one, because it does not wear the shaft.

Super, other people suggest that the bronze bushing is more reliable in that it can only "wear out" whereas the roller can "fail" because of it being a two piece device. I guess your experience says otherwise?

The ball bearing version is a better choice. We once used the bronze bushings as paperweights.

Try Joblot in NY or Little Dearborn in Minnesota.

Does anyone know where I can get the one piece Oilite bronze pilot bushing? Last time I ordered one they sent me the roller type & told me that was all that was available.
