Just got a 40 coupe and am new to Ford. The clutch has over three inches free travel. I would like to start with adjustment but need proceedure. I looked over the Forum for the past year, but didn't come up with anything, but I know it must be somewhere. I really hate to clutter up the Forum with something so basic.

first thing is to reduce the free play (travel) to around one inch, this is done by turning the clevis on the clutch pedal arm out to remove the free play

If you can shift the transmission, I would look again at the way you are measuring the free play adjustment. With 3" free play, you should not be able to shift.
