here are the # on two trans , the first came out of a 39 four door 18-5111764 the second is 18-4798719 , is the second one from a 39 also?????????

shogun, Yes, they are both '39 transmissions. Be aware, though, that the serial numbers on the case say nothing about the internals. If I'm not mistaken, all gear sets will fit the '78 gearbox from '32 to '48 and up through '50 in the pickup trucks. The gerarsets will work, but only as sets, as the individual parts do not interchange. '32 - '35 sets had straight cut gears, '36 & up had helical cut, and the '39 introduced the superior synchromesh. 3 speed Pickups had open driveshafts from '49 up, and these gearsets also fit the 78 case.
