FORUM RULES: Users agree to these Rules when using Forum.

The site administrator reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.

The user agrees to the following terms:

  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.
  4. Commercial-type sales postings will not be allowed.
  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Since my original communication back in NOV 2011, I have moived from Belgium to the island Cyprus and set up a hobby-workshop with mainly Ts and As plus a 1933 RHD V8 or originally 4cylinder, which was imported from Argentina.

I am in the process to start a complete restauration with the help of Jim, a British retired mechanic leaving in Cyprus. I will soon have some photos to share for any comments and advice.

In Oct I will be visiting friends in Riversite CA and also be taking part in the Horsless Cariage tour around carmel CA.

I would like to meet any local CA V8 members who have some experience or views on 1933 V8 Roaster to share benefit from their experience.

I can provide photos and USA references as i will be staying with friends at Reche Canyon, Colton, CA.

Regards and many thanks to all,
Christopher Koutsakos,

Koutsakc,

Yours looks to be a very nice car. It appears to be a standard roadster, which makes it more interesting, at least in my opinion.

When you begin your restoration, I may be able to assist you with some parts that may be missing as I have owned numerous RHD '33-'34 phaetons and roadsters from Argentina in the past.

You may reach me at: walmer111@aol.com.

Sorry Alan, but the vehicles sold by Ford in Central and South America in that era were not of Canadian manufacture, but rather of U.S. manufacture, whether or not they were assembled locally or were originally LHD or RHD. The sole exception likely would have been in British Guiana (Surinam) as a British colony.

Ford of Canada was granted the marketing rights to all of the British Commonwealth countries except the United Kingdom and Ireland when it was established in 1904. The rights to the rest of the world remained with the U.S. parent company.

Notwithstanding, there are no substantive differences between Canadian-produced and U.S. produced vehicles in the V-8 era prior to WWII.

Christopher, You will definitely need the "1933-'34 Ford Restoration Guide", published by the EFV8CA. Go to the homepage >Online Store>Shop>Ford Books. This book may also be available from C&G, as advised by Supereal.

As for buying parts to be shipped to Cyprus, you have a problem. You will encounter resistance to the hassle of shipping, and you will encounter disbelievers that you are for real, as there are many international scammers preying on both buyers and sellers. You will need a Stateside Sponsor of some sort, maybe a friend or a service such as PayPal, to provide the needed assurance to sellers of your legitimacy.

As for the restoration itself, you will find that your Ford was built in Canada for export to Argentina, and as such, has many parts unique to that source. Should you wish to build your car as Left Hand Drive, the parts you will need are American Manufacture. The difference between the two are not limited to the parts required for Right Hand Steering, but include a variety of unrelated parts.

Welcome, and Good luck to you!

Alan

E-mail a request for a catalog to www.cgfordparts.com Their catalog has many pages of books and manuals to cover most, if not all, Fords. As for "original" parts, the only kind left from years of production are the "NOS" (new old stock) or "NORS" (new old replacement stock) items. They tend to be very expensive, and many offered from eBay and other places sometims are not reliably advertised. If you need some specific part, or advice, I'm sure this Forum will be of service.

Having taken very early retirement I am setting a workshop for my Ford collection of Ts, As and now a V8, in the Greek island of Cyprus where I come from.

My first project starting Jan 2012 is a ground up restoration of a beautiful 1933 Ford Roadster recently imported from Argentina .. see photo.

Being 12,000 miles away from the US, spare parts and good advise is extremely Important.

I would therefore very much appreciate to create a family of V8 friends to exchange views and benefit from their advise, starting from useful books and sources for original parts.

With best regards and much appreciation for the good work and support you guys offer over the years.

Christopher Koutsakos
Working in Brussels - Belgium till the end of the year .. then moving permanetly in the island of Cyprus.
