mass gives a good acont on plates, but no mention of steel or al. thanks

Did you try the DMV? I found a very nice set of year of manufacture plates for my '47. In Iowa, both steel and aluminum plates were issued, and our DMV confirmed that my plates were authentic. I did learn the plates, which are all numbers, didn't conform to current law, which requires both letters and numbers. Some additional invesigation did give me a way to display them legally.

does anyone know if mass. low digits were made of aluminum in 48. have anice set of 5 digit plates
