When I apply the parking brake the brake lights come on. What adjustment is required to correct this condition? Don

when you apply the parking brake there is a oblong hole in the linkage for the foot pedal the hole allows the linkage on the bake cross shaft to move without moving the pedal and actuating the brake switch. it is possible the linkage is some what gummed up and instead of moving in the oblong hole it is still grabbing the pedal. See the green parts book p.18 part #2466.

Also check your brake pedal return spring to see if its weak or missing.

Thanks 40 Coupe and Don, I will check the oblong hole first since I observe the brake pedal move down slightly when the parking brake is engaged. The spring is in place but I have not checked it' tension. Don
