My '34 has a mechanical temp gauge sending unit mounted inside the radiator hose. I have just installed a new hose and the fitting which goes through the hose is leaking. With my setup there is a fitting which attaches to the radiator hose and the temp gauge sending unit screws into the fitting similar to that shown on page 5-21 in the 33-34 Ford restoration manual except I do not have the square washer looking part shown. Perhaps that's my problem? Any advice on how to install this thing or where I can get replacement parts, or any other help will be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the '34 setup, but I assume it is similiar to the heater hose nipple we put in the lower radiator hose of later cars. I suspect that one or the other halves would solve your problem. It is shown on page 235 of the C&G catalog (www.cgfordparts,com) It has a curved square plate for the inner part. Before we insert the nipple from inside the hose, we give it a good coat of RTV silicone so don't leak.

Get your self a nice washer and bend it to the curve of the outer hose ,seal it like S.R says .
