I think the battery needs to be moved to the passenger side. On the 6 cylinder it's on the driver's side. Norm

You might also post this question on the truck forum. The V-8 will fit right in and you need to use the 8BA motor (49-53). The transmission may be a problem. I believe the bell housing on the trans will not bolt up to the V-8. You will need a V-8 bell housing. You will also need to use the truck/pickup water pumps and you will need to add an additional outlet and inlet to your radiator. Another problem you will encounter is the throttle linkage. The V-8 linkage is very different from the 6 cylinder linkage. You will need to change it. I'm sure I have forgotten some items so hopefully someone will chime in a and add to my list.

I have a very sick 1949 F-1, with the original flathead 226 I-6 that threw a piston rod out the side of the block recently. Since I need to replace the engine, will the 239 flathead V-8 fit right in with the minimum of modification. I have the four speed transmission that was optional that year. Thanks, DVC
