What are the chances of finding a new crankshaft for a 35 model 85hp V8. I have or can get all of the other parts and I will have a new engine?

The chances of finding a "new" (NOS) crank are between slim and none, I suspect. A competent machine shop can measure your crank and determine if regrinding to a standard oversize can be done. When we regrind or polish cranks, we open the oil passages and remove the decades of accumulated crud to insure proper lubrication of the rod and main bearings. Sometimes a shop will redeposit metal with a "spray" technique, but there are enough reusable cranks out the before going to that expensive, and sometimes risky, alternative.

I'd be very skeptical of a NOS crankshaft. If it was not stored correctly for decades (unlikely it was) it would probably be junk even though never used. Red's Header's sells new crankshafts. I have purchased and used two of them. Both times a charm

Thanks for the info. I am just getting started on this restore and will be asking a lot of question in the next couple of years. Better to research stuff and get it right.

I'm not sure if Scat makes a crank for the early 21 stud engine that would work for you. Would your existing crank clean up at 0.010" or 0.020" under? I have several good used '35-'36 21 stud cranks but depending on where you are located, shipping cost may be too expensive.

The engine in the car is not in that bad of shape. I am just a crank short of a new engine so to speak. I am locate in northern Michigan.
