Where does the cone housing in this picture go? I have one in a bag of "firewall parts" that I removed 25 years ago. Can't figure out where to put it. Thanks

The threaded support from the assembly goes through the firewall. The hat shaped cone goes inside of the firewall and is stepped up to clear the insulation pad mounted on the firewall. Charlie Stephens

Looks like you need a second "stepped washer" (cone) from the photo. As Charlie mentioned, the cones also act as a retainer for the firewall insulation when it is installed. Install with the top of the "hats" over the throttle bracket mounting studs, against the firewall on the inside, with the "brims" towards the rear of the car.

So, if I am understanting this correctly, on the engine side of the firewall there is a cover that attaches over the pedal assembly linkage and attaches with two screws. The pedal mounting stud, goes through the firewall, the cone is placed over the stud on the interior side of the firewall with the narrow diameter portion of the cone against the firewall with the wider open end facing the rear of the car. The mounting nut goes into the cone, and secured in the "back of the cave.". Is that right? Cheers!!
