How are the thermostats installed in a 59AB engine? Can you get them from NAPA,Advance Auto or any normal car parts store or do you have to go to the repo shops?

The thermostats are just dropped in the hose openings in the heads and then the hoses are installed. NAPA does not list them in their current online catalog. Try C&G Ford parts.

We use the 160 degree stats 11A-8575, about ten bucks at C&G. 180 degree stats are a bit "tall" for summer traffic driving. Be sure the the stats are installed with the bellows (or pellets) are facing toward the engine. We like to place a clamp on the hose above the stats to be sure they stay in place. If they move, they can, at least, not be operative at the correct temperature, and may block the hose altogether.
