Shogun40, have you decided on a route that you are going to take on your trip yet? If you are going through Auburn, IN, don't forget the Early Ford V-8 Foundation Museum. It doesn't have a lot of cars on display, but there are many unusual Ford artifacts on display, including a device to adjust the valve clearance with the engine running.

In Florida, don't miss the Fantasy of Flight Museum. It is devoted to air planes, but it is well worth spending a day there. Take the guided tour or you won't see over half of the collection. http://www.fantasyofflight.com/ This collection is a fine example of what you can do when you have too much money. Tom

In addition to Don Gaarllitt's Museums on Ocala, FL, another "Don't miss in Florida" is the Tallahassee Antique car Museum (http://tacm.com/) If you are an Early Ford V8 guy, they have several 1932 Fords, including a super nice Phaeton, a Roadster and the 1932 Ford School Bus shown on this Forum's masthead. The owner of the museum (Devoe Moore) has his original 1952 Ford pickup that he used while shoeing horses while working his way through Florida State University. He also has a big collection of "Batmobiles" from the movies and lots of other cars of all makes and ages. Upstairs he has the best collection of train and model train stuff I've ever seen. He's working on a farm implement museum, so he has plenty of that stuff restores and stored in the antique car museum. Don't miss it! I-10 US 90 in Tallahassee FL If you get to Ft. Myers on the south Gulf Coast, visit the Henry Ford winter home next door to Thomas Edison's home and laboratory. Nice place with some of Henry's cars and the history of his friendship with Edison, plus all the Edison Home and Museum.

Florida -- Fort Meyers -- Edison / Ford winter homes. California - San Diego, Balboa Park, home of the 1935 Worlds Fair -- Ford Building (now houses airplanes) and then the San Diego Auto Museum right next door. Some of those other places listed are not in FL or CA.

If you happen to get as far north as I-80 through Utah, one of my favorites is the Hill Air Force Base Aerospace Museum in Ogden Utah. http://www.hill.af.mil/library/museum/
